Commemorative Ceremonies

The Last Post Fund recognizes the importance of commemorative ceremonies in honouring our Canadian and Allied Veterans. Every year, in the beginning of June, ceremonies are organized to remember those who served our country, so that we may keep their memories alive forever and pass their stories and realizations down to future generations.

On the St. Lawrence River

Sunday 5 June 2011

Taking place annually at the Old Port in Montreal (near Quai de l'Horloge), this commemorative ceremony is a tribute to deceased Veterans from the Canadian and Allied Naval Forces and to Veterans from the Merchant Marine.

At the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges and Mount Royal Cemeteries

Sunday 5 June 2011

A century has passed since the first Last Post Fund burials took place at the Côte-des-Neiges and the Mount-Royal cemeteries in Montreal, which were used from 1909 to 1930. The first official burials in newly acquired plots by the Last Post Fund occurred in 1910. This centennial will be celebrated during the ceremony, which will be followed by a commemorative concert at the Saint Joseph Oratory of Mount-Royal entitled A Requiem to Honour and to Remember.

At the Last Post Fund National Field of Honour

Sunday 5 June 2011, starting at 2:30 p.m.

You are all cordially invited to attend this impressive ceremony in honour of our Canadian and Allied Veterans.

In preparation for this commemorative ceremony, small Canadian flags are placed on the graves of Veterans and members of their family who rest at the Last Post Fund National Field of Honour.
